Dr François-Zéphirin Tassé (1825-1886)

Dr François-Zéphirin Tassé (1825-1886)

A physician by education, François-Zéphirin Tassé settled in the Parish of Saint-Laurent and quickly became involved in municipal affairs first by being elected councillor on July 1, 1855.

He became mayor of the municipality when he was just 30 years old. Throughout his career, the youngest mayor in the history of Saint-Laurent held the positions most notably of Member of Parliament, governor of the Collège des médecins et des chirurgiens du Bas-Canada and as reeve of the Saint-Vincent-de-Paul Penitentiary. He passed away after a long illness on February 20, 1886.
